I have known Matt for a number of years on a personal and professional level, so it was a natural move for us to have Matt photograph our wedding simply because we were obviously aware of his personality and professionalism. It was a no brainer and he hit every expectation i had of him before the day, on the day and after!
If you don't know Matt and are thinking of using him for your wedding then hopefully my explanation will clear it up for you and help you feel as comfortable as we did about Matt being involved in our day.

If you don't already now Matt or haven't been a friend previous to thinking about using him to photograph your day, then believe me you will soon become friends, its impossible not to befriend Matthew. You will see from the first meeting he is so focused on you and your day and what you want, he will make you feel relaxed, and excited about your own day even if you didn't think that was possible.
On the day the first thing you will notice is relaxed and totally organised ora and bangs of banter which will immediately again put you at ease and get you excited for the day ahead. From there on out throughout the day Matt will work tirelessly to nail every shot you wanted, every shot you didn't even know you wanted, the serious shots, the action fun shots and most importantly the natural shots that everyone loves.
I am biased but so will you once you have had the experience of meeting Matthew, enjoyed his company and obviously witnessed his enthusiasm, professionalism and of course his final product. One of the best decisions you'll make for your special day.

Mat Mcquillan was our photographer for a military church wedding in North Wales on the 7th September 2013.We interviewed a number of Chester, Manchester and North Wales photographers around a year before the big day. Most photographers offered a limited time of availability (usually a 4-7 hour period) for more money and didn’t engage with us (the couple) anywhere near as well as Mat did. He was friendly and really cared about what we thought, ensuring that our day came first. The groom had a special morning of rugby planned with all the male guests, which started early; this was not an issue for Mat, and he never even suggested extra charges. The bride also wanted the speeches and first dance to be photographed; again Mat was more than happy (or at least appeared so) and there was no extra charge.

He kept in touch with us over the months building up to the wedding and we had a rehearsal/meeting the week before. At the rehearsal he calmed down a very stressed couple and, along with the bride and groom, came up with a very well organised and beautiful plan for the whole day.

On the day, he immediately got well acquainted with the important family and friends, especially the ushers and bridesmaids to avoid giving the couple any stress. Throughout the day if he ever felt he was getting in the way, he disappeared; also if the bride got a bit chilly or the groom needed a drink, he would wait.

The evening festivities ended up lasting a bit longer than expected, with speeches and the first dance being delayed by quite a bit. Mat stayed without any fuss, meaning that his day was over 12 hours long! He did this because he really cares about the couple and he takes huge professional pride in what he does. Out of all businesses we dealt with, including marquee, caterers, cars, coaches etc, he was by far the most impressive and we would recommend him to any event. He adapts well to individual couples, which is vital.

We got the ‘CD package’, but we would happily have paid a lot more for the service, now that we have seen the result. Another photographer from the same area did the Bride’s sister’s wedding a few years ago and took around 3 months to complete editing the photos. Mat worked day and night, whilst photographing other weddings and studio shoots to get the photos edited in 10 days, which was outstanding.

Mat did an absolutely outstanding job at our wedding at Mecure Chester Abbots Well on 2nd Aug 2013.

Mat made the whole process so easy and stress free. Mat visited us at home and also arranged a visit to the venue with us before the wedding so already knew what locations to use for the best photos on the day.

He worked extremely hard during what was a very long day for him, arriving at approx 10:30am and leaving well after 09:00pm.Mat is a lovely person and had a great repore with all the guests making them feel at ease in front of the camera.

He took a huge range of posed,arty and spontaneous photos, exactly what we had asked for and the results were absolutley fantastic.

Matt used his experience as a photographer to make suggestions and was also happy to accomodate whatever shots we also wanted throughout the day.

Working with Matt was a pleasure - he was so easy to get on with, and replied promptly and courteosly to all queries we had. He was also great value compared to all the others we looked at!

On our wedding day Mat really put us at ease during our photo's as a couple and throughout the day we hardly noticed his presence and yet he captured some amazing 'natural' photo's of us and our guests! He was so easygoing and got along with all our guests with many of them commenting on how hard he worked all day and what a great guy he is!

We got married at The Queen Hotel in Chester on 27th May 2012.

We chose Matt to be our photographer after meeting with numerous people and going to many wedding fairs. We took an instant like to Matt so went with him.

From the first time we met him up until our wedding day he kept in touch with us and also did a pre wedding day photo shoot at the hotel 3 weeks before the wedding. This was extremely useful for us because we don't normally like having pictures of the 2 of us, especially standing up, and for Matt because we are not the average couple;

Dave being 6ft 8" and myself being 4ft 11". Matt had done a lot of research on our behalf to how to make the pictures look right with such a height difference and without this, the pictures for our day would not have turned out as fabulous as they did. Matt is very thorough and precise which is essential in his line of work. A lot of our wedding guests commented on how personable Matt was and that they liked the fact that he put a lot of effort into our day.

He was there from 10am until 9.30pm so we feel that our whole day was captured.

We would highly recommend Matt to anyone who is having a wedding, in fact, we have done, so he is also being the photographer for our friends wedding next year.

Mathew had a real challenge on his hands with our wedding. We got married 5th Nov at 4pm, so the lack of light was a big issue but we can't believe what he's achieved for us. We are absolutely thrilled with the results. Mat made sure that he researched our venues very carefully, making sure that he visited them prior to our wedding to understand how he was going to deal with the lack of light. His is a true professional who has bags of enthusiasm. We felt confident that Mat would deliver and he most certainly did!

Liam, Mat's assistant was wonderful too, coming up with ideas/suggestions. They both work so hard. They were an absolute pleasure to have around and we will miss you!
